where delicious meets disgusting.

i will readily admit that i am a big fan of marshmallow fluff but you reach a point with the shit where it just makes you feel like throwing up. here are three perfect examples:

this one is absolutely fine and quite tempting. the strawberry/raspbery options:

the 1lb 4 unit pack available from amazon.com is where it gets quite worrying:

and i draw the line at the fluff cookbook. it's just not right.

My favourite new animals

awwwww! how cute and weird. i really enjoy strange creatures. imagine having one of these suckers to wake up to every morning, being greeted by those big mutated eyes and elephantine snout!!

this is a water vole:

The animals may exhibit 'indeterminate growth' (they could keep on growing forever!!!). They are thick-furred and have hairy fringe on feet that improves their swimming ability.

IMAGINE if these were your pets!! Like a real life Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles gang but probably quite disabled rather than crime-fighting:

remember their boss splinter??? uncanny.

Adidas...again.....

i posted a while back about how much I liked that Adidas Originals commercial and the star wars one. Now I've found this and am at a loss. It's not by any means as fucking cool as the first two, maybe it's too try-hard, can't quite put my finger on it. it all looks fake. And it's pretty damn long. And Snoop Dogg really pisses me off.

Check out the half gold shoes at around 1:20 tho. Yeah I like those.

MMM

i have decided i am going to start watching the wire properly from start to finish. i need something to take my mind of the ending of lost.

just need some way of getting my hands on it.......watching shit internet quality don't roll with me.

here's something i am V E R Y E X C I T E D about. Maison Martin Margiela exhibition at Somerset House. Yes i predict this shall be a good one indeed.

130 euros can't be that much...?

Especiahally for these WOODEN sunglasses from Waiting for the Sun.

Puns

LOL.

http://www.turbanoutfitters.se/

I came a cross this when I thought 'Wouldn't it be funny if there was a TURBAN Outfitters', and apparently there is. And they actually MAKE TURBANS. Go figure.

I received this recently:

It's frame tape. A roll of tape but like with a picture frame design on it. I'm not sure what to do with it yet but rest assured it will be both fun an crafty. And sticky. Possibly a photo montage.

Sleep tight.

Nicemare

Did I ever tell you about the time I dreamt that my dad was the singer from Lynrd Skynrd..? That's what going guitar hero cold turkey will do to you...

LISTEN TO THIS!!!!

Yeah the video's just a guy spooning coffee, or mud. I can't decide. That aside it's one of those little tunes that is oh so unique and raw and lovely. And addictive.

the best of the golden half

one of my first posts was about none of my first lot of golden half pictures coming out. but this time round I've tried real hard and remembered to use the flash and also take the lens cap off more than twice!!!!

here's a few of my faves from the roll.

I'm only posting three on here cos my internet at home is real low and glee is on in 5 minutes!!! Priorities.
But I think I'm getting sick of this analogue camera, "ooh i want to take a picture of that, wait, put the flash on, wait for it to warm up, take the lens cap off, wind the film on, click." No room for spontinaeity. I solemnly swear will keep at it tho.

More goodness soon from yours truly xxxx

THE WEIRDEST SHIT I'VE EVER SEEN

I kid you not. I've seen some weird stuff in my time but this takes the cake.

I don't really want to say any more...but I don't really think I can. Just try to watch it. And prepare yourself for some fudged-up visuals.

(thanks again to Joe Sack for this one. He's for sure my go-to-guy for entertainment on youtube).
I'll post again in a bit. Got lots more to show you soon!!!!
Til then

home

so now i'm pretty much done with my 2nd year of studying film at uni. what a weird concept to grasp. time properly freaks me out sometimes.
but anyway, it will be real nice to be back in london for a while.

here's another one of my favourite commercials....(apart from that awful mumbling voice at the end). i'm slowly coming around to chris cunningham. maybe rubber johnny wasn't the best CC film to watch first.

this is just so amazingly simple. You can imagine the guy with the air gun standing on a platform just out of view, ready to work his magic.

O.M.G.

ok so i haven't posted on here for a little while because i've been procrastinating working and if i have to type anything more than a facebook message then i feel guilty about not working. but i have made an exception.

OMG if there was a sole excuse for not working then this is it. i love this hamster so much. i wish i had him and i could feed him carrots all day.

i decided today that if there was any animal i'd be it would be a bat. they're not endagered, they can fly, they talk by sonar. they can scare the shit out of anyone. and they sleep upside down. argument won.

god this blog post is lame. more interesting ones will come next week but i've come to the point where i really enjoy being distracted by anything. especially stuff like hammy over there.

god bless you all.

upcoming....

I AM SOOOO EXCITED FOR SEPTEMBER!!!

you know why??

the tate modern is having a Gaugin exhibition!!!! yum yum.

chek it out:

http://www.tate.org.uk/modern/exhibitions/gauguin/default.shtm

owly

awwwwwwwww.
i love owls. this is my newest owl-themed obsession:

yes sir!!!! it's my owl usb plug!!
no it's not a usb stick. it doesn't store any data or do anything useful. it just plugs into my mac and bobs its head and blinks its eyes and keeps me company while i procrastinate. mine is white, no name yet.

and check out this amazingly lengthly video i found on youtube:

you don't have to watch it all. i didn't

xxxx

commercial

i went home to london for a few days to recharge my batteries, walk my dog, hit some golf balls etc.
i don't really like posting about things that you can just find out for yourself....like just turn on the t.v. and watch, but this is different.

it's suuuch a chill tune/montage sequence.
this one's just silly but i looove star wars and star wars um 'culture' so there you go. espec the part with the feet on the swing.

while i'm at it i may as well put this one up too. probly one of my fav commercials ever. i know that if i say it's got sick editing than that's the most obvious statement i could make. but it's true. the battles remix is amazing and i love how it kind of disorients you but still makes you want to watch it like 500 more times. right?

mmm hmmmm

Every summer I fall in love with white shoes. (see Jeffrey Campbell white 'tick' shoes a few posts down). But now I've got my eye on these baby pink Louise Goldin studded court pumps. The conflicting colour/extreme studded combo just works for me so much.
But the white ones are beautiful too. x

Hard to Explain

I always knew Julian Casablancas (of the Strokes) was a little bit of a prick, but I always let it slide cos of those mysterious eyes and swagger. Oh yes. I fully admit I was crushing on Julian big time back in the day. Imagine the level of my heartbroken disappointment when I stumbled across this interview for his solo stuff. Could it be true??? Has my crush been crushed?
Not only is he totally boring and washed up, he decides for some reason to do the whole interview with sunglasses on?! And it's not even outdoors. If you really want to be disappointed then skip ahead to around 5:56. Just listen to him for yourself. I don't want to spoil it.

Yeh, the song's not great either. Or the video.

Do you reckon the Strokes hate each other but just tour for the money like the Pixies? I hope not, though there's no way of thinking otherwise really.
I guess I can't be too surprised. Julian's track record hasn't been great recently. Do you remember this weird collaboration? No? Didn't think so.

I think that's enough of a rant. But I make my point. I miss the old Julian.

i'm thinking of turning this into a shoe blog....

not even kidding. it's like every other post is shoes.

now these are some special ones...

Acne Platform Pumps, BEAUT, with a leather sole. They've done a few different versions, all with these variations on the nail-inspired heels. but these are my fav no contest. I like the dark gray. £530, but really look at wat you're getting for it.

it's so chilly in my bed, it's starting to turn into summer but the nights are always so shockingly cold still. i want to get TAN dammit.

Yes more shoes for your eyes.

These could be the best shoes EVER made.

It's the 'Tick' shoe by Jeffrey Campbell (Good ol JC does it again.) And yes I did find it necessary to put up four pictures of the same shoe. $165, 4" heel with a 1" platform is totally walkable as well. I imagine these beauties would be pretty comfy, genuinely. Not that it matters. I'd wear these forever even if they hurt like a muthafucka.

There's also black and tiger versions of the shoe but in this instance white is BOSS.

xx

Parentals

I thought I'd put up these pictures of my ma and pa back in the days.
Cute eh?

Also, newest nail colour in my wishlist:
It's called 'Dickweed' by BleachBlack and it looks like a shiny Japanese beetle bug.

I love colours. I'm looking at this book called 'Colours of India' and it explains what all the colours represent and has all these beautiful photos around India. They're all so vivid and clashy but it a wonderful way. It's like looking at the world through a kaleidoscope, I can't even imagine how it would be to be living that. Amazing.

Rag & Bone

One of my fave designers, I had a blast going to their Bleecker St. store when I was in NY in the summer. Minimal but really beautifully detailed stuff. They do the best blazers and shoes. And apparently don't sell in the UK AT ALL.

not that I could afford it anyway.

OHH YEAH

When I saw this I had to put it on here straight away. Think it might be off the first album I EVER bought. We were obsessed with these guys back in the day. PURE 90s goodness.

Playlist

Here is the top 15 of the 25 most played on my iTunes. I'd never looked at it before. Some surprises, alot of obvious ones that might be considered embarrassing in certain circles.....

1) Another Girl Another Planet- Blink 182, 41 times?!!?!
2) Tika Toc- DJ Yoda, 39 times (WTF, another weird one)
3) What's My Age Again- Blink 182, 36 times (yes)
4) Action - Blink 182, 34 times (seriously...)
5) 20th Century Fox- The Doors, 32 times
6) Not Fade Away- The Rolling Stones, 32 times
7) All Falls Down- Kanye West, 29 times
8) Poker Face - Lady Gaga, 28 times
9) Id Engager - Of Montreal, 28 times
10) Debaser - The Pixies, 27 times
11) Houseclouds - Liars, 26 times
12) Sugar Magnolia - Grateful Dead, 26 times
13) Youthless - Beck, 26 times
14) Easy, Lucky, Free - Bright Eyes, 25 times
15) Scenario - A Tribe Called Quest, 25 times

I feel most are quite respectable tho, bar all the Blink 182. But IMO they're fuckin awesome anyway.

Happy Bday KStew

My imdb browsing tells me that Kristen Stewart is 20 today. WOO.
I hope I accomplish that much by the time I'm 20. Just kidding. I'm like 22.
Certain things make me feel old, like watching the acrobatic and archery sections of the Olympics, but for some reason I've always felt like I was younger than K Stew. She reminds me of the evil Queen from Snow White when she's in old lady/witch form. Normally I'd think that's a mean thing to say about someone, but it's a genuine comparison I make. It's just what my brain does automatically. Think about it.

Oh well. Happy Bday, Kristen. Let's hope you learn about good posture soon.

also here's a tweet I just stumbled across regarding the same topic:

Why are people wishing Kristen Stewart a Happy Birthday? KStew doesn't know happiness, and prolly has no soul.

call me simple but it made me chuckle. i mean, that's pretty bitter.

just wow.

sometimes i love ebay. sometimes i hate it. this is a story of both love and hate. i without a doubt love it. but hate the fact that i thought it was on uk ebay but it's actually us ebay. sad times. still, it's nice to look and dream, eh? i guess? not really. it's just looking like a depressing dream.
anyway, here's the ebay store of my dreams. literally. maybe i should temporarily move to the us with the sole purpose to buy things on ebay....not really justafiable at all, unfortunately...

American Archive
the clothes are all beautiful. and there's so MUCH of it!!! endless pages of fun and imagination.

The Bravery

The new (or I guess at this point kind of old) Ok Go video is amazing. I'm not sure if it was all done in one take- I'm guessing there's a few well hidden cuts in there somewhere. But it's one of the best I've seen in a while.

The video is obvs really similar to that Honda 'Cog' advert from awhile back. I remember literally sitting there with my mouth wide open watching it for the first time.

It also reminded me of this video from my teenage years- 'Honest Mistake' by The Bravery. I guess looking back I can see why they only had one mild success of a song, and why I'd forgotten it. Still, the video is good to watch again. It's by no means as impressive as the Ok Go one, mostly because of the amount of cuts there are. But I like the black and the white and the yellow together, it looks real cool.

Stilts

Being home for Easter is not all it's cracked up to be.........I have an essay to write. I am sitting next to a pile of unopened books and have watched two films (both unrelated to my essay, by the way). Procrastination is running dry. So I turn to possibly my favourite internet browsing topic- SHOES.
I have a real love for obscure footwear (as you can see a few posts down). Here I present 'United Nude'. http://www.unitednude.com/shop/all-c-191.html
Particularly 'Frame' in camel.

It kind of reminds me of the Eva Rothschild installation that was at the Tate Brit last year.

YEASAYER

I've been really liking the music of YEASAYER recently. It's fun and nice and hits the right emotional note. I've been looking for some new stuff to listen to that's not in any way 'drum and bassy' or 'dubsteppy' (or the Glee soundtrack. I just feel that it's reached my Top 25 most played on iTunes way too quickly). All that drum and dub stuff is alright when you're dancing I suppose but it's not exactly the kind of music you can properly love. In MY opinion anyway.

Listen to O.N.E. Ambling Alp is a goodun too.

i want i want

The Jeffrey Campbell '99' zip close platform shoe. Check it out in all its alien weirdness. IMAGINE in the summer with bare legs and some shorts. Mmm. Sadly I think they're only available in the states. My hunt for a (affordable) UK equivalent begins...

A Dose of Ub

When it comes to animation, you can't get any more old-skool than Ub Iwerks (Disney animator, creator of Mickey etc.) I'm a BIG Ub fan.
This is one of my all time favourite videos on Youtube. I would pay big dollar to see it in better quality though. It is pretty disheartening watching pixellated hand drawn animation.
Anyway, skip past the reediculous length title screen and you'll see what I mean. I'd take this over CGI-enhanced bullshit any day.

Nostalgic (part one of many, I'm sure)

This is the goofy, tie-dye wearing cousin of death, nostalgia speaking today. Nothing fills me with so much warm fuzzy joy than nostalgia (except for possibly a possibly a fluffernutter *see below*, but that is partly due to its nostalgic value...), while at the same time leaving me a little bit sad. This, of course depends on what has triggered the nostalgia in the first place.
Today's trip back is these photos I found wedged in the depths of my iPhoto collection.

Sigh. The one on the left is me chillin on a bale of hay with my bro and my cousin. The photo on the right is me. Check out how cool and 90s we all were!! High ponytail/bangs combo. Big ol t shirt. I don't know if you can tell but I'm waring my prescription glasses under those sunglasses. When I was a kid I would only wear red or things with animals on it. So I guess I am satisfied with my look for that day. What I also love is the amount of suburban greenery and sunshine, and the bag of Lays potato chips in the front. Aww.

(On the subject of fluffernutters: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluffernutter
I'm thinking of testing out some variations on the original. I can't deny its simple and oh so effective power but I do feel like there is room to expand. I'll keep you posted.)

Flashy Flash

As I write this I am having my first cup of coffee in THREE days. Ahhhh yum. I've gotta admit though, cutting down on the caffeine has really helped with the whole not waking up automatically before 7am thing.
Anyway, I finally got a flash for my Golden Half camera. The first and only other time I've tried to use it was without flash and the entire roll came out underexposed apart from one and a half frames (one of which I've scanned in for your viewing pleasure). Minus the obvious fingers in frame I love it. Firstly because I took them on my New York travels over the summer. Secondly they are only one that survived without the use of a flash. The Finding Nemo of the bunch if you will.
So now I'm excited to have a potentially exciting camera setup to go and take potentially exciting photographs with. We'll see....

GLITTER NAIL POLISH!!

I'm REALLY keen to try out O.P.I's new Alice-inspired shade that is suitably titled 'Mad as a Hatter'. It reminds me of being nine and painting layer upon layer of different shades of glitter nail polish, and then peeling it all off the next day at school. SO much fun.
But now it's all in one bottle and I can justify wearing glitter polish again!! Just not sure if I can justify it at £9.95 a bottle.....

On a different note, check out this website. Lots of creepy fun.

Some from Brighton

Went to see some loves of mine in Brighton yesterday. Good times were had. etc. and here's a few pictures I took with my little Pentax digital camera. Sarah in Beyond Retro, Claud's amazing hair flip dance moves and my face.

First Post

The amount of times that I've seen or thought about something and said to myself 'If I had a blog I would put that on it', it's about time that I start my own, and the idea of having a Twitter scares me because of how witty you have to be in such a concise amount of words. Boring Tweets are the worst thing ever.

I love writing about myself and talking about what I like and generally self indulgent. So that is the basis of this blog. Just things I like and want to remember or share WITH YOU.
